Breast and Endocrine Surgery Fellowship at the University of Cape Town

At the University of Cape Town, we offer a unique opportunity for fellows interested in specialising in Breast and Endocrine Surgery. Please note that there are currently no recognised Breast and Endocrine fellowships with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). However, our Breast and Endocrine team welcomes fellows for periods of one to two years, tailored to their desired exposure (either breast, endocrine, or both).

Program Highlights
  • Duration: 1-2 year fellowship programme

  • Clinical Exposure: Tailored to meet individual fellows' interests and goals

  • Degree Enhancement: Fellows have the option to register with the University of Cape Town for an MSc degree in Surgery through dissertation (although this is not mandatory)

Training and Exposure

During the fellowship, fellows will have the opportunity to work closely with our experienced Breast and Endocrine team, gaining hands-on experience in the diagnosis and management of breast and endocrine conditions. Clinical exposure will be tailored to meet the specific interests and goals of each fellow.

MSc Degree

While there is no exit examination hosted by the College of Medicine, fellows have the option to register with the University of Cape Town for an MSc degree in Surgery through dissertation. This academic component of the programme will enhance fellows' clinical exposure and provide an opportunity to contribute to research in the field.
